This is an overview of the North-East Trinidad District Sport and Family Day 2019. May was dubbed the month of North-East Trinidad Districts’ Sports and Family fellowship.
The Sports and Family month started with the HASH event. The event was held on Saturday 11th May 2019 at the Prison Sports Facility, Arouca from 7:00am 12:00noon. Seven zones participated. The obstacles were very challenging but the teams forged ahead regardless of the difficulties. People got minor injuries, thank God they were not life threatening. The teams’ results were as follows: 1st – Zone 2; 2nd – Zone 1; 3rd – Zone 3; 4th – Zone 6; 5th – Zone 7; 6th – Zone 5; and 7th – Zone 8.
On Saturday 18th May, the 5K event was held. Three hundred and twenty-eight (328) persons participated in this event. The 5K started at the Eaton’s Supermarket in D’Abadie and ended at the Eddie Hart Ground in Tacarigua. The winners were Zone 1 – Female and Zone 8 – Male. The first place senior female and male were Zone 5 and Zone 3 respectively.
The Sports and Family Day was held at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Arima. Seven teams participated in the presentation. The presentations were of high standard with the teams emerging with the following results: 1st place – Zone 1; 2nd place – Zone 2; 3rd place – Zone 4; 4th place – Zone 3; 5th place – Zone 7; 6th place – Zone 6; and 7th place – Zone 5.
The day’s events went really well. The Fire Service was able to run the novelties consecutively without gaps. The children under 12 got prizes for 1st – 3rd places. In the end, the overall results were as follows: 1st place – Zone 1: 481 points; 2nd place – Zone 2: 450 pts.; 3rd place – Zone 3: 425 pts.; 4th place – Zone 7: 331 pts.; 5th place – Zone 6: 304.5 pts.; 6th place – Zone 4: 287 pts.; 7th place – Zone 5: 240 pts.; and 8th place – Zone 8: 84pts.
