The Bethel World Outreach Ministries auditorium was the site for our District’s end-of-year Missions Rally. A small crowd turned out for an important update on our Missions program and plans, enthusiastically presented by several knowledgeable and committed individuals. Music ministry was served by Neal Rickson on Pan, and the Bethel Children’s Choir. Karenmay Johnson, Assistant Director of Missions, gave an overview of Missions activities by churches in our District; Rev. Mario Layne, Zonal Co-ordinator, narrated a fascinating photo slideshow of recent Missions trips to Guyana and Suriname; Rev. Emerson Boyce, of the Evangelical Association of the Caribbean, gave a brief statistical breakdown of Missions activities of Caribbean nationals, over 600 of whom are serving outside this region, including in Iraq and Iran; Rev. Winston Lewis, Missions Director, explained the five-part strategic plan for Missions in our District for the 2012-2014 period; Rev. Warren Harper, Assistant Presiding Bishop expounded on Perspectives on our Missions goals, on behalf of our Presiding Bishop. The Word was brought by Rev. Ricardo Joseph of the South District, who, along with other principles, encouraged us not to stop short, hold back financially, or keep going to the same people over and over, when there were so many to be reached. The major takeaway point of the night was that there are three types of believers when it comes to the Great Commission: Zealous Goers, Zealous Senders, and the Disobedient. May none of us be found in that last group! In the congregation that night were Church-level Missions leaders and committee members, ordinary members who had gone on Missions trips, and several persons who serve full time in the ministry of Missions.
